Mubu The Little Animal Doctor™

Peter Alexander is the author of the empowering and educational children's book series,
Mubu The Little Animal Doctor which is based on the true life adventures of animal saviour, Sangduen ( Lek) Chailert.

When Mubu was a young girl she didn’t have a television to watch, computer games to play or a telephone to talk to her friends. Was Mubu bored? Hardly. She had the wonders of northern Thailand to explore. She had mountains with mysterious caves and glistening waterfalls to discover. Valleys shrouded by mist and fog stirred her imagination. She fished in beautiful rivers with her Grandfather Noom. She climbed trees to pick fruit and talk to monkeys. She made friends with the pigs, cows and chickens in her village. She gave them names like Saba, Santi and Chaba. You can read all about them in future Mubu books. It was very funny the day the baby chicks were born in her bed! Mubu and her grandfather climbed the tallest mountain in Thailand named Doi Chiang Dao, which gave the girl incredible views of the green world below them.

She and her friends even explored caves! In the spring, the most beautiful orchids bloom in northern Thailand. Their perfume fills the surroundings. That was the kind of air Mubu breathed when she was a girl.
When Mubu grew up, she became a strong and determined woman who loves animals and has become famous for saving all sorts of Nature’s wonders, especially elephants. Her grown-up name is Sangduen “Lek” Chailert and most days you can find her at Elephant Nature Park, a sanctuary she created in the 1990s.

About The Author
Mubu The Little Animal Doctor series creator and author, Peter Alexander, has been writing about animals since he was twelve years old. His first book was called Striped Chipmunk.  He took his book to Thornton W. Burgess, the famed author of the Old Mother West Wind  series, which included Peter Rabbit Jimmy Skunk, Sammy Jay, Bobby Raccoon, Little Joe Otter, Grandfather Frog, and other beloved animals.

Mr Burgess encouraged Peter to keep writing about animals. After he graduated from Boston University, Peter wrote and directed the famous documentary film called The Animals are Crying, which told the story of unwanted cats and dogs in the United States. His movie won first prizes at three film festivals.

In Thailand, Peter became concerned about the plight of elephants in that country. He wrote a screenplay entitled The Earth Trembled that dramatized the problems of those great animals. His research led him to Lek Chailert, founder of the Elephant Nature Park, who told him the story ofGoldie, her first elephant.

Today, Peter lives in Thailand and America, and continues to write about Mubu, The Little Animal Doctor, and to help abused and homeless animals wherever he goes.

The books which are illustrated by famous Brazilian artist Paulo Sergio, are now available at www.amazon.com, www.barnesandnoble.com and iTunes.

As a father of two teenage daughters, illustrator-cartoonist Paulo Sergio of Joinville, Brazil, jumped at the chance to become the artist for Mubu & Mu-Mu The Little Animal Doctor. “Children need heroes and heroines,” Paulo says, “and they don’t have to all be adults. Mubu is a super-heroine; she loves animals and will do anything for them. That’s the spirit I tried to capture in my illustrations.”
In his work for books, comic books, business publications and advertisers during the past 25 years, Paulo has employed a variety of artistic techniques, including watercolor, pastel and acrylics, all within his fully computerized Brazilian art studio.
